Chinese Taipei beat Vietnam 2-0 in the League of Legends semi-final at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on 1 October, Inven Global reported. It is the team's second straight Asian Games final, and a silver medal is now guaranteed.
A liveesportss.com match page lists the same 0-2 result for Vietnam. The series was played at Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture.
Rematch of the Hangzhou semi-final
The two sides also met in the semi-finals at the previous Games in Hangzhou, and Chinese Taipei won 2-0 there as well. That win sent them into the final, where they lost to South Korea.
Vietnam finished fourth in Hangzhou after losing both its semi-final and the bronze medal match. This time there is no bronze match. Both semi-final losers take bronze, so Vietnam leaves Aichi with a medal.
How both teams reached the semi-finals
Eight nations are in the LoL event, split into two groups of four. Each group plays a single round-robin of best-of-one matches, and the top two advance to the semi-finals.
Chinese Taipei lost to South Korea on 30 September but beat Hong Kong and India, finishing second in Group B at 2-1. India and Hong Kong had come through the qualifiers.
Vietnam went undefeated in Group A, beating Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. It ended Saudi Arabia's game in about 25 minutes and Malaysia's in 18. Saudi Arabia took second place at 2-1, the UAE finished 1-2 and Malaysia 0-3.
Vietnam had also taken a set off South Korea in a 1-3 exhibition loss at the Busan Cinema Center on 20 September. The semi-final against Chinese Taipei was a best-of-three.
South Korea and Saudi Arabia play for the other final spot
South Korea faces Saudi Arabia at 1:30 PM JST on 1 October (2:30 PM AEST) for the remaining place in the final. A South Korean win sets up a gold medal rematch with Chinese Taipei, just as in Hangzhou.
South Korea's squad is Zeus, Canyon, Faker, Zeka, Gumayusi and Keria, according to Inven Global's preview. Zeus, Faker and Keria won gold in Hangzhou. Canyon, Zeka and Gumayusi are at their first Asian Games.
The final is a best-of-five at Aichi Sky Expo Hall D. It starts at noon JST on 2 October, which is 1:00 PM AEST.
