New Gauntlet: Glitched mode reimagines Agents and Abilities in VALORANT

Gauntlet: Glitched is VALORANT’s newest game mode. It is multi-team and will have players drafting abilities for their hybrid agents, upgrading them as the game progresses.

Key Takeaways

  • Gauntlet: Glitched is a 2v2v2v2v2v2v2v2 game mode.
  • Players draft their own kit with randomized abilities.
  • Drafted abilities can level up, reimagining Agent Abilities.
  • Gauntlet: Glitched launches on Sept. 22 with Patch 13.06.

Everything about Gauntlet: Glitched

According to Riot Games, Gauntlet: Glitched takes inspirations from roguelikes as players pick an ability, fight, pick again, and upgrading them along the way. It said that the mode is for “players looking for a high-energy experience” without committing a whole game’s length worth of time.

Gauntlet: Glitched – 2v2v2v2v2v2v2v2 lobby

First off, the lobby. Gauntlet: Glitched games are comprised of sixteen players competing as eight duos. If this sounds familiar, you might be thinking of League of Legends’ Arena game mode, which features a similar lobby structure.

  • No restrictions on mixed-skill Duos. Riot provided an example where a Diamond and a Bronze player can queue up together.

Losing a round means losing health. At 0 health, you and your duo are eliminated. This is a similar system to LoL’s Arena and Teamfight Tactics.

Players will play as hybrid robo-Agents on four maps, each inspired by existing VALORANT maps. Riot says that these maps will be “familiar, yet uncanny” and optimized for the 2v2 duels.

Ability draft

Games are played in Rounds. Each round, you will choose from randomized ability options and upgrade your kit from Level 1 to Level 3. Leveling up your abilities adds power and augments to its effects. For example:

  • Yoru’s Fakeout will be able to shoot bullets on its own.
  • Skye’s Trailblazer spawns a gigantic wolf that can one-shot enemies.
  • Gekko’s Wingman goes from li’l bro to big bro.

Gauntlet: Glitched launches on Sept. 22 with VALORANT Patch 13.06. This update also introduces the new rifle, Warden, and the revamped Agent Mastery system.
