Team Spirit ends Team Yandex’s dominant run to claim Dota 2 PARI Universe title

The PARI Universe Grand Final delivered a shocking result as Team Spirit swept Team Yandex 3-0, denying them a single game win and claiming the tournament title.

After falling to the lower bracket against OG, Team Spirit fought their way past PARIVISION, Team Liquid, and GamerLegion to reach the Grand Final, where they shut down Team Yandex, who had remained undefeated since the group stage.

Team Spirit’s incredible run at Dota 2 PARI Universe

Team Spirit and Team Yandex have established themselves as two of the strongest teams in the modern Dota 2 scene. Since The International 2026, the two organizations have repeatedly gone head-to-head, starting with BLAST SLAM 8.

Both teams finished at the top of their respective groups during the PARI Universe group stage. However, Team Spirit had to take the longer route to the Grand Final after suffering an upset loss to OG. Despite dropping to the lower bracket, they fought their way back to the championship series and proved they could overcome some of the tournament’s toughest opponents.

Team Spirit eventually swept the Grand Final 3-0, although each game was closely contested and forced the three-time TI champions to fight for every victory. More importantly, they appeared to expose a weakness that other teams had struggled to exploit against Team Yandex: focusing their attacks on Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf.

The series also showed that Team Spirit’s success does not depend solely on their star carry. Their other players stepped up when it mattered, particularly Denis “Larl” Sigitov with his Earthshaker in Game 1 and Bohdan “Batyuk” Batiuk with Enigma in Game 2 and Timbersaw in Game 3.

With PARI Universe behind them, Team Spirit may have found another rising star in Batiuk. His Enigma repeatedly caught multiple opponents in devastating Black Holes, creating openings for Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk to deal damage safely. Batiuk also demonstrated his versatility in Game 3 with Timbersaw, further proving that he can make a significant impact alongside Team Spirit’s established stars.

What’s next for Team Spirit?

As Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov is still taking a break from professional Dota 2, it seems like Team Spirit will keep on relying on Batiuk for their position 3 role.

After claiming the championship in PARI Universe, Team Spirit effectively avenged their BLAST SLAM 8 grand final defeat to Team Yandex.

The next tier 1 tournament that the defending champs will join is BLAST SLAM 9 on November 20, 2026. The event is BLAST’s last Dota 2 tourney of the year, featuring almost the same teams that competed in PARI Universe.
