Black Salt Games has announced that it has established a brand new studio called Team Trifold, with the new group joining Black Salt Games and Disc 2 under the Saltworks Entertainment banner. This means all three studios maintain independence but work closely together to share resources and experience within the industry. Alongside the announcement of the creation of Team Trifold is the reveal of its debut game, a generational roguelike called Nothing Lost.

In the context of Nothing Lost, generational roguelike means that each time a hero dies the next generated hero has the opportunity to find the spirit of the fallen shamans and gain their abilities. In essence, that should mean that each shaman that enters the Tower of Souls should be stronger than the last and be able to climb higher. As evidenced by the amount of deaths you’re likely to have, climbing the tower is not an easy feat. Swarms of monsters and bosses reside in the tower, attempting to thwart any attempt to climb. Shamans can equip up to three souls of their fallen forebears, and those spirits remain throughout runs so you can experiment with which souls to equip until you find a suitable build that will get you to the top.
A release date is yet to be confirmed for Nothing Lost.
