- Cygnus Cross says Steam Next Fest feedback revealed key areas needing work before Emberville is ready for launch.
- Major Emberville improvements, including bow combat reworks and core systems changes, need more development time.
- When Emberville hits Early Access in January 2027, the team plans regular updates and community-driven improvements.
Developer and publisher Cygnus Cross dropped some significant news this morning about Emberville: the game's Early Access release has been pushed back. The team sent out the letter below, explaining that they have had to push the game back to January 7, 2027, as they have taken the notes they gathered during Steam Next Fest and will put them to use by working on the areas they feel need immediate attention. While it does mean an extra two months of waiting instead of a few days (as it was planned for October 27), we'd rather play a working title than one that needs constant updates.
Emberville Now Arrives in Early Access on January 7, 2027
Hey everyone,
We know this is very short notice, with launch just a day away. After extensive discussions within the team, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Emberville's Early Access release.
Many of you have played our Steam Next Fest demo and shared your feedback. This means a great deal to us, and we immediately started planning more improvements. However, some of the improvements we want to make are systems changes that can't be done quickly. Reworking bow combat, for example, would take more time than we had prior to our Early Access release, even though the team is working around the clock.
After carefully considering our options, we have decided to move the release date and include some essential improvements in the Early Access launch build. We understand that this will be disappointing for those of you who were ready to buy the game. While we could have simply released the game now, we feel that it wouldn't be up to our standards and to your high expectations of us.
We also want to be clear about what we are working toward. Our team has a clear vision for how Emberville will develop throughout Early Access. On January 7th, our goal is to deliver an experience that shows what makes the game distinctive, establishes its core gameplay, and offers a compelling glimpse of how the game will grow throughout Early Access.
Once Early Access begins, we will follow up with regular updates, both large and small. We will continue adding content, listening to your ideas and suggestions, and building Emberville together with you. Thank you for your support, patience and understanding,
The Emberville Team
