Indie game publisher Retrovibe and GOG are formally teaming up to offer more ways for indie game developers to get published. Publishing can help with a lot of things like actually getting games approved on various stores, admin, marketing and much more.

Retrovibe by GOG is their new joint initiative, after GOG split off from CD PROJEKT late last year, they continue to move in new directions - including the confirmation of Galaxy for Linux coming. This one makes a lot of sense, since Michał Kiciński co-founded both GOG and Retrovibe.

From the official site:

"Retrovibe by GOG combines Retrovibe’s multiplatform publishing experience with the expertise and reach of GOG. Together, we help independent developers bring distinctive games to players across PC storefronts and consoles, with hands-on support from development and marketing to launch and beyond."

As for why they're partnering up:

"Because we believe great indie games deserve both the right publishing support and the opportunity to reach more players. Retrovibe brings hands-on publishing experience, while GOG brings platform expertise, marketing capabilities and an established PC gaming community. Together, we can offer developers more ways to bring their games to market."

I can't actually find any official public press release announcement - it's not in any of the usual places, they seemingly only sent it to a few select sites like PC Gamer. Update: they've now announced it properly.

What they said developers can expect from it:

  • Funding and development support
Project funding, production guidance, QA and hands-on support to help bring your game to release.
  • Positioning and marketing strategy
Finding what makes your game stand out, building its audience and planning campaigns that reach the right players.
  • Community and creator outreach
PR, creators, events and community campaigns that connect your game with players before and after launch.
  • PC and console publishing
Storefront expertise, platform relationships, porting, certification and coordinated releases across PC and consoles.
  • Long-term publishing support
Updates, promotions, sales strategy and opportunities to keep your game growing beyond launch.

They won't be locking games to GOG, but hopefully this will mean some more games see day-1 release on GOG.

They have a few games on their docket already including:

  • COP BASTARD
  • Project Warlock: Lost Chapters
  • Shardpunk 2
  • The Looter
  • After Hell Freezes Over
  • Project Warlock
  • Project Warlock II
  • Shardpunk
  • B.I.O.T.A.
  • Impaler Gold
  • Undead West
  • Janosik 1 & 2
  • Only Lead Can Stop Them
  • SPORTAL

In other news, GOG are also doing a big anniversary sale - so you can pick up some more cheap games. And, they're giving out Discord Nitro with certain orders.
