Aaron Donald last suited up for an NFL team in 2023, but that’s soon going to change. The future Hall of Famer announced his return to the Los Angeles Rams earlier this month, and while he’ll miss the team’s first game against San Francisco in Melbourne, Australia, his comeback is imminent.
If you want further proof that this is real and truly happening, EA Sports has revealed the full stats and rating for Aaron Donald in Madden 27. Donald will be added to the game, where he was last seen as a member of the 99 Club in Madden 24, before the Rams and 49ers kick off on Thursday, Sept. 10.
While no one expected Aaron Donald to immediately reclaim his spot in the 99 Club, where he resided for several seasons, his initial stats in Madden 27 are mind-bogglingly frightening for a player coming off a nearly three-year retirement. You can take a look at Donald’s starting stats and OVR below:
Aaron Donald Madden 27 Stats
- 95 OVR
- 97 Strength
- 92 Block Shed
- 94 Power Moves
If you’ve followed the NFL at all over the past several years, you know how dominant a player Aaron Donald was all the way up until his retirement in 2024. He was the best defensive tackle in football for a decade and ranks alongside Lawrence Taylor, Deion Sanders, and Reggie White as one of the best defensive players ever to play in the NFL.
That said, we’re talking about a 35-year-old player coming off three years of retirement who’s immediately given a 95 OVR rating in Madden 27. For reference, this rating ties Aaron Donald for the second-highest OVR given to any defensive tackle in the entire game, only trailing Derrick Brown, who is a 96 OVR. Donald’s OVR is tied with players like Jeffrey Simmons, Chris Jones, and Cam Heyward, and could even be technically above them depending on the rest of his underlying stats.
While you can argue that a player of this stature deserves this kind of rating, EA Sports clearly believes that Donald will still be a top-10 defensive player in the entire game. Only seven defensive players in Madden 27 have a higher-than-95 OVR rating.
Whether Aaron Donald truly lives up to that rating in the real world remains to be seen, as we haven’t seen him take the field in nearly three years. However, when it comes to Madden 27, you can bet that Donald will be roughly as dominant as he used to be in every other game he’s appeared in, with the initial stats he’s been given.
