Naraka: Bladepoint makes Hearthstone history with first non-Blizzard crossover

Naraka: Bladepoint has launched its collaboration with Hearthstone, and this one comes with a surprisingly significant bit of Blizzard history attached to it.

NetEase Games and 24 Entertainment say the crossover marks the first time official Hearthstone content has ever appeared inside a game not made by Blizzard. Phase 1 of the Naraka: Bladepoint x Hearthstone event is available now, with a second batch of crossover content already confirmed for 2027.

It is a one-way collaboration, so don’t expect to start finding Naraka heroes lurking inside your Hearthstone decks just yet. Instead, Blizzard’s card battler is invading Naraka with cosmetics, sound effects and several references that should be immediately familiar to long-time Tavern regulars.

Naraka: Bladepoint players can grab a free Murloc cosmetic

Probably the most immediately recognisable part of the collaboration is the Murloc Headwear cosmetic, which players can claim for free simply by logging into Naraka: Bladepoint during the event.

There are plenty of smaller Hearthstone touches scattered around too.

Players can recreate Anduin’s infamous “Wow!” using a new speech bubble emote during battles, while picking up high-rarity loot from Troves can now produce Hearthstone-style “Epic!” and “Wow… Legendary!” announcements.

Even opening chests is getting the card game treatment. A new Hearthstone-themed Trove skin transforms battlefield chests into oversized card packs, complete with the visual trappings of cracking open a new pack and desperately hoping something worthwhile is hiding inside.

The crossover’s gameplay trailer also contains a special Lich King voice cameo, so it’s probably worth keeping the sound turned up until the end.

It’s an unusual crossover, but the significance is perhaps more interesting than the cosmetics themselves. Hearthstone launched back in 2014 and has spent more than a decade crossing over extensively with Blizzard’s own franchises, particularly Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft. Allowing official Hearthstone material into an entirely separate publisher’s game is a genuine first.

Naraka: Bladepoint is hardly a stranger to collaborations itself. The battle royale has increasingly embraced crossover content alongside its regular seasonal additions, and putting Murlocs and Hearthstone card packs into its martial arts battlefield somehow doesn’t feel quite as bizarre as it probably should.

Naraka: Bladepoint x Hearthstone Phase 2 arrives in 2027

This isn’t the end of the partnership either.

NetEase and 24 Entertainment have confirmed that Phase 2 of the Naraka: Bladepoint x Hearthstone collaboration will arrive sometime in 2027.

Exactly what will be included hasn’t been revealed, with the developers only teasing that more surprises from the Tavern will make their way onto the battlefield.

For now, though, players can log in and pick up the free Murloc Headwear while enjoying the strange sight of Hearthstone finally escaping Blizzard’s walls after more than 12 years.
