Curse of Resthaven developer Hilltop Studios has revealed the full voice cast for its upcoming gothic narrative roguelite, bringing together actors with credits spanning Star Trek, Assassin’s Creed, Mass Effect, Death Stranding and Cuphead.
The Toronto-based studio has assembled 11 actors who have recorded almost 7,000 lines of dialogue across 25 characters, with four performers also returning from Hilltop’s acclaimed debut game Lil’ Guardsman.

Curse of Resthaven puts players in charge of a struggling island colony as newly appointed governor Ambrose. Unfortunately, governing the place is only part of the problem. Ambrose must also investigate the disappearance of his niece, a mysterious plague and the death of his predecessor, while trapped inside a six-day time loop that inevitably ends in a cosmic catastrophe.
Gameplay combines town management and trading with card-based expeditions and interrogations, meaning its large cast of fully voiced characters should have plenty of opportunities to make an impression. Every resident of Resthaven has their own motivations and secrets, leaving players to work out who — or potentially what — can be trusted.
Leading the cast is Raoul Bhaneja, who plays disgraced war hero General Oliver Bolingbroke. Bhaneja will also appear as Chancellor Kelrec in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and has credits including Death Stranding 2 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
Wade Bogert-O’Brien, whose television work includes Beacon 23, Good Witch and Frontier, voices protagonist Governor Ambrose.
Elsewhere, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey actor Tracy Michailidis plays Iryna, while Jan Alexandra Smith, whose gaming credits include Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening and Jade Empire, voices Evelyn Sprigg.
Cuphead actor Alana Bridgewater plays Lydia Braithwaite.
Lil’ Guardsman performers Jeremy Lapalme, David Leyshon, Rylan O’Reilly and Briana Templeton are also returning to work with Hilltop Studios, alongside Broadway performer Bruce Dow and Canadian theatre actor Hailey Gillis.
Game director Scott Christian said voice acting had been an important part of Lil’ Guardsman and that the team wanted to push things considerably further for its second game.
“Voice acting was a huge part of what made Lil’ Guardsman special – it’s definitely part of our secret sauce – and we were fortunate enough to receive recognition for it when the game launched,” Christian said.
“Curse of Resthaven lifts the bar even higher.”
Curse of Resthaven is also breaking ground for indie voice actors
There is another interesting element behind the recording sessions. Curse of Resthaven is the first game to operate under ACTRA Toronto’s new Indie Video Game Agreement.
Hilltop Studios consulted with the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists while the agreement was being developed and has become the first developer to adopt it.
The system bases actor rates on a game’s production budget, with developers also able to provide additional payments to performers should a game become particularly profitable.
For smaller studios, the idea is to make hiring union voice talent more financially achievable while opening up more indie projects to union actors.
“We’re also so proud to be the first studio to pilot ACTRA Toronto’s Indie Video Game Agreement,” Christian said. “This new agreement makes engaging union voice talent more accessible to smaller game studios, and makes it easier for union actors to participate in cool indie projects like ours.”
The complete Curse of Resthaven cast is:
- Raoul Bhaneja – General Oliver Bolingbroke
- Wade Bogert-O’Brien – Governor Ambrose
- Tracy Michailidis – Iryna
- Jan Alexandra Smith – Evelyn Sprigg
- Alana Bridgewater – Lydia Braithwaite
- Jeremy Lapalme – Micah Islip
- David Leyshon – Garet
- Rylan O’Reilly – Adam Bolingbroke
- Briana Templeton – Agata
- Bruce Dow – Pryster Islip
- Hailey Gillis – Amalia
A playable Curse of Resthaven demo is available now on Steam.
Curse of Resthaven is scheduled to launch later in 2026 for PC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
