The Planet Crafter lands on PS5 and Xbox with eight-player co-op and Game Pass

As a big old fan of games like Satisfactory, this is very good news. The Planet Crafter has officially arrived on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, bringing Miju Games’ hugely successful open-world terraforming adventure to consoles for the first time.

The console version is available now, July 21, and has also launched directly into Xbox Game Pass. It is priced at $23.99/€23.99 through the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store.

Originally released through Steam Early Access, The Planet Crafter has now sold more than two million copies and maintains an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating from players on Valve’s storefront. According to Miju Games, the title has a 95% positive user rating and remains among Steam’s 200 highest-rated games.

The Planet Crafter gives players the unenviable task of turning a hostile, lifeless planet into somewhere capable of supporting human life.

Beginning with little more than a collection of basic survival tools, players must gather resources, construct machinery and gradually alter the planet’s environment. That means producing oxygen, increasing atmospheric pressure, generating heat and eventually melting the ice covering parts of the world.

As the terraforming index increases, previously inaccessible caves, tunnels and regions become available to explore. Water begins to form across the landscape, vegetation takes root and the previously barren planet steadily transforms into a functioning ecosystem.

Unlike many survival games, The Planet Crafter places relatively little emphasis on combat. There are no armies of zombies or heavily armed enemy factions to contend with. Instead, progression is built around exploration, construction and the increasingly visible effects of the player’s terraforming work.

The console release also includes support for online cooperative multiplayer, allowing as many as eight players to work together on the same planet. Every new machine, environmental breakthrough and terraforming milestone contributes towards the shared world’s progression.

The Planet Crafter initially entered Steam Early Access in March 2022 before receiving its full 1.0 release in April 2024. It passed one million sales shortly after leaving Early Access and has continued to grow through regular updates and expansions.

Miju Games says it has released 15 major content updates and two DLC expansions so far, with additional content planned for the future. The decision to create console versions reportedly followed an ongoing campaign from players who wanted to continue their terraforming adventures away from PC.

The Planet Crafter is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It is also included with Xbox Game Pass from launch.
