Wisper replaces Ace in Team Liquid Dota 2, becoming its first South American

Two-time TI champions Team Liquid finally confirms the signing of former HEROIC offlaner, Adrián “Wisper” Dobles. This is a few days after their announcement about Ace leaving the team.

While several rumors suggest that this won’t be the last change to Team Liquid’s roster, it seems likely the case given that their first post-TI 15 tournament is BLAST SLAM VIII, which is just about a week from now.

According to some unverified claims, their midlaner Michał “Nisha” Jankowski has requested a break, and hence, Team Liquid is allegedly in talks with several free agents that can take a role, such as Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng and Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak.

Wisper’s move to Team Liquid puts an end to the rumors linking him once again to OG, further narrowing the pool of experienced players available to other organizations as they build their new rosters.

Wisper in new roster of Team Liquid: What it looks like

Ace might hold the edge over Wisper in terms of achievements, but Wisper remains one of the strongest position 3 players South America has to offer right now.

Wisper’s most notable performances so far are finishing second place at BLAST SLAM VII under LGD, 3rd-4th place at BLAST SLAM IV under HEROIC, and becoming the champion of FISSURE Universe Episode 7, where he helped HEROIC defeat MOUZ in the grand finals, 3-1. He also managed to reach 5th-6th place at The International 2025, an incredibly rare feat for a South American player.

The decent placings of teams with Wisper in the previous BLAST SLAM tournaments will come in handy for Team Liquid when it comes to building their chemistry. Since Team Liquid relies on strong map control and takes advantage of the time when their heroes are most powerful, Wisper can possibly thrive in his new team with his promising space-creating playstyle.

However, if the rumors about Nisha taking a break from the competitive scene prove true, Wisper may need even more support from Samuel “Boxi” Svahn and Erik “tOfu” Engel, two highly capable supports who can help control the early and mid game. 

Wisper’s signature heroes include ultimate-dependent picks such as Batrider, Dark Seer, and Mars, which complement Team Liquid’s other cores, whose preferred heroes can provide strong burst damage and right-click potential.

The new Team Liquid will now feature the following players ahead of the BLAST SLAM VIII.

• Midlane: Michał “Nisha” Jankowski
• Offlane: Adrián “Wisper” Dobles
• Soft Support: Samuel “Boxi” Svahn
• Hard Support: Erik “tOfu” Engel

William “Blitz” Lee will remain Team Liquid’s coach, and in an X post, he expressed the excitement he feels with Wisper on his team. According to him, while Team Liquid experienced lots of firsts in 2026, starting the new season with Wisper is “super hype.”

BLAST SLAM VIII is scheduled to start on September 29, 2026. It is both an online and offline tournament where the playoffs round will take place in Malta.
