Wuthering Waves is officially moving beyond video games, with Kuro Games revealing a new animated series titled Wuthering Waves: Elysium.

The project was announced through a brief teaser released by Kuro Onroad, a newly established animation brand operating under Wuthering Waves developer Kuro Games. The studio has not yet confirmed a release date, episode count, streaming platform or exactly where Elysium will fit within the game’s existing storyline.

The teaser offers a stylish glimpse at the project but appears designed primarily to confirm that an animated adaptation is in production. For now, Kuro Games is asking fans to stay tuned for further updates rather than offering any substantial story or production details.

Wuthering Waves: Elysium release date remains unknown

It is also unclear whether Elysium will retell events from Wuthering Waves, expand upon an existing character’s story or present a completely original adventure set elsewhere in Solaris-3.

The game follows the Rover, an amnesiac protagonist exploring a world rebuilding itself after a catastrophic event known as the Lament. Along the way, players recruit characters called Resonators, uncover the Rover’s lost memories and battle the strange creatures threatening the remains of civilisation.

That setting should translate comfortably into animation. Wuthering Waves already places a heavy emphasis on cinematic storytelling, elaborate character designs and fast, choreography-driven combat, giving Kuro Onroad plenty of material to work with.

Elysium also represents another major expansion for a franchise that has grown considerably since Wuthering Waves originally launched on PC and mobile in May 2024. The free-to-play action RPG subsequently arrived on PlayStation 5, Steam and Xbox Series X|S, with the Xbox version launching alongside Version 3.5 on July 10, 2026.

Kuro Games has previously produced animated promotional films and cinematic sequences for its games, including Wuthering Waves and Punishing: Gray Raven. Establishing Kuro Onroad as a dedicated animation label suggests that Elysium may be more than a one-off experiment, although the company has not announced any additional projects under the brand.

For the moment, Wuthering Waves: Elysium is essentially an announcement of an announcement. The series exists, it has a name and there is a teaser, but fans will have to wait for Kuro Games to reveal when they can watch it and what kind of story it intends to tell.
