Eight changes in one short video Motion aiming stays optional and the ocarina hears you What arrives on November 5 and what waits until 2027

Nintendo has squeezed the biggest changes in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time into one short video. The remake launches exclusively on Switch 2 on November 5.

Nintendo publishes this rebuilt version of the N64 classic and lists it at $59.99 in the US, with full details on the official Nintendo store page. It is the centrepiece of the series’ 40th anniversary, which also brings a special edition Switch 2 console.

Eight changes in one short video

As Nintendo Life reports, Nintendo says the clip shows “just some of the ways” Link’s quest has been remade, and it covers eight features. None of them are new reveals, so the video works as a recap for anyone who has avoided the marketing so far.

Here is what the video runs through:

  • Dashing and jumping, part of a control and camera overhaul
  • Motion controls for lining up shots with ranged weapons
  • A visual rebuild aimed squarely at the new hardware
  • Voice acting in the story scenes, plus extra lines of dialogue
  • Ocarina songs you can perform into the console’s mic
  • A tapestry that logs your progress, and a room for rematches against beaten monsters

The store listing pitches the remake at newcomers as much as at veterans: “Jump and dash through the action with enhanced controls and modern camera movements, making this a great entry point into this legendary series.”

The sound gets an overhaul too. Nintendo’s October 14 overview trailer post promises full symphonic orchestral music to go with the new voice work.

Motion aiming stays optional and the ocarina hears you

You do not have to use motion controls. The Fairy Bow, the Hookshot and other ranged weapons can be aimed with buttons or gyro, and you can switch between the two in the Options menu.

The microphone feature is optional too. You can hum a song Link has learned or play it on a real instrument, but buttons still work if serenading your console on the bus is a step too far.

Rematches and a tapestry of your progress

Every monster you defeat earns a statue in a dedicated hall, where you can learn more about it or take it on again. Nintendo’s October 14 post named this space the Hall of Fallen Heroes, while the store listing now uses Hall of Fallen Foes. Alongside it, a woven tapestry known as the Threads of Time charts how far you have got through the adventure.

The store page also points to bits of fairy lore hidden around Hyrule, plus new and expanded dialogue for characters across the kingdom.

What arrives on November 5 and what waits until 2027

The Nintendo store listing covers the practical details for launch day:

  • An estimated 27 GB download, playable in TV, tabletop and handheld modes
  • HDR and VRR output on compatible TVs
  • A 40th anniversary wallpaper for digital purchases made before November 23 at 11:59pm PT
  • ZELDA NOTES support in the Nintendo Switch App, including location hunts based on images and an ocarina you can play on your phone
  • Rewards for tapping existing Legend of Zelda amiibo

Two new amiibo, Young Link and Young Zelda, unlock in-game masks with a retro look, but they do not arrive until 2027. The Electric Ocarina of Time accessory is listed at $49.99.

Getting hold of the hardware has been the bumpier part of the build-up. Kotaku reports that Walmart cancelled pre-orders for the $519 special edition Switch 2 at the last minute and is now giving affected US buyers 48 hours to reorder. The game itself arrives on November 5.
