NBA 2K27 Gameplay Update Adjusts Shooting, Dunks, Steals and Game Speed

NBA 2K27 received a handful of gameplay adjustments today as Visual Concepts continues to fine-tune the game based on what the team has been seeing and hearing from the community. The changes are applied automatically, so there’s no update to download, though players will want to return to the Main Menu to make sure everything is up to date.

Shooting received some attention with defensive contests now having a stronger impact on tougher attempts. Well-contested and lower-percentage shots should be less effective than before, while wide-open looks received a slight boost, giving players a little more incentive to create and take better shots.

There are also changes around the basket, particularly with standing dunks, which should now go in more consistently against average and below-average interior defenders. The Rise Up badge has been adjusted as well, providing a more noticeable benefit once players reach Gold tier or higher.

Steals and ball security were cleaned up after an issue allowed lower-rated defenders, along with players running low on adrenaline, to come away with on-ball steals more consistently than elite defenders. Steal ratings should now matter more when making contact with the ball, while a separate fix increases and standardizes overall game speed so it remains more consistent across the different modes in NBA 2K27.
