Well, I think the team have just about recovered from Gamescom, and things are returning to normality. Here’s our usual weekly roundup of all of the top news stories, reviews and shows from the team, plus a whole extra section of Gamescom previews, so you don’t miss out on anything important. Let’s check out the weekly roundup for August 31st-September 6th.

Monday:

The week kicked off with ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition arriving on Nintendo Switch 2, while Sony confirmed a September State of Play double-bill. PlayStation also announced a new Live TV feature for PS5 users in North America, and Microsoft began rolling out its new Disc-to-Digital feature to Xbox Insiders.

Tuesday:

Double Fine launched its Amnesia Fortnight Kickstarter, with a potential Brütal Legend 2 among its stretch goals, while Naughty Dog provided a fresh development update on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Konami announced a new Press Start showcase, No Rest for the Wicked‘s 1.0 release slipped into 2027, and Xbox revealed September’s first Game Pass wave, including SpeedRunners 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Meanwhile, the extended look at GTA 6 proved a huge hit on Netflix, topping the charts with more than 31 million views.

Wednesday:

Nintendo Switch 2 continues to pick up new releases with LEGO Harry Potter Collection confirmed for October, while reports suggested Nexon is licensing the StarCraft IP from Blizzard for a sequel. Changes to Minecraft Minecoins on Nintendo Switch were also announced, Call of Duty: Mobile revealed its Honkai Impact 3rd collaboration for Season 8, and the latest Marvel Rivals patch introduced new X-Men ’97 bundles.

Thursday:

Stranger Than Heaven passed the impressive milestone of one million wishlists, while PlayStation held its latest State of Play Double-bill with a fresh selection of announcements and reveals. Nintendo’s releases for September 3–9 were detailed, Hela: Of Mice and Magic was confirmed for Xbox Game Pass, and Microsoft confirmed that Xbox Cloud Gaming will be introducing monthly streaming-hour limits. Sony also unveiled a pair of special-edition GTA 6 DualSense controllers.

Friday:

We’ve got details on puzzle adventure Uncanyon, set for 2027 and the release of a free demo for FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE. StarCraft speculation continued to build amid further teasing ahead of Blizzcon, and Nintendo announced two Directs, with one focused on The Legend of Zelda., Lastly, a potentially positive development for Xbox Cloud Gaming users, with existing subscribers reportedly set to avoid the upcoming streaming changes in select markets.
